Glass Magnet Project

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

I’m finally adding this but we did indeed finish our glass magnet project. It was during the Christmas season and my mom kind of went a little crazy buying us things at Michael’s since we don’t celebrate Christmas like usual folk. We never really do the presents-thing and I think I’d like to continue that trend until I’m forced to. Alright so everything is pretty cheap for doing this. We got some scrapbooking paper of birds and other fun things but I think next time I’ll just find photos I’m fond of or a find another theme. We used Elmer’s crafting glue (which had a really strong vinegar type smell to it, ick) and just kind of trial and errored everything we did. Which usually is the best way to figure out what techniques are the best. We cut out from the scrapbooking paper the designs we wanted and then once they were glued on we’d trim anything off that we needed to. I think they turned out pretty nice.  We made a whole bunch but had fun doing it together. Ohhh sisters…

Ok so as you can see, you can also buy the larger sized glass pebbles. They have a few more imperfections I found on the flat side but I like them better because of the size. The bag came with different colours and unfortunately, the blue ones don’t look as good when finished and you can’t just buy the clear ones separately. They aren’t very expensive, so I’d go for it and maybe use the blue ones for something else instead.

Hey there, this is my first Blog. I’ll be adding heaps of travel stories, news about my upcoming ebay store of vintage and cool clothing, new items from the Super Line and anything I find that is interesting.

Here are some samples that I like from Baby Lux Design of glass magnets I’m going to be making tomorrow with a similar feel with my sister. Craft day. :) We’ll probably make some of Star Wars characters (for her husband), random trinkets and cool designs. I really love the 40s-50s style.

Here are some ideas you could use for your glass magnet:

I’ll post pictures of tomorrows developments.
